What’s in my sports camera bag?
Hi, my name is Alonzo Adams and i’m a sports, event and portrait photographer in Oklahoma City. Here is what’s in my bag for sports assignments.
For pre game, I may want to do portraits, autograph signings, scene setting images so I use my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV camera body and my Canon EF 16-35mm or EF 24-70mm f2.8. For the game I usually use my go to Canon RF 70-200mm f2.8 L Lens, Canon EF 300mm f2.8 with EF to RF adapter and or my Canon RF 400mm f2/8 L lens and Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 for wide scene setting shots on two Canon R3 bodies and one Canon EOS 1 D X Mark II body. Using the Canon R3 body with the RF lenses are amazing. You have 30 fps and you capture the action everytime in sharp detail. The R3 can lock onto the athletes eye or face and track/follow with a great autofocus system which allows me to not worry about that aspect and let me create, compose and be artistic with my shots. I have a Canon 1x extender to give me that extra reach for plays and action further than my normal reach.
We all have to have the extras to help make the event go smooth, so I have extra memory cards, extra batteries, lens cloths, rain gear, sunscreen, chapstick, credentials, monopod, pocket wizards to remotely trigger cameras and water.
Always think ahead and prepare for the unknow.
Most of all have fun and shoot shoot shoot!
